Liang Fu

Liang Fu was born in Qingdao, China. He received his dance education in one of the world’s most prestigious dance institutions, Beijing Dance Academy, for 6 years. After graduating in 2001, he went on to have a 23 year career as a professional dancer; dancing with companies such as Singapore Dance Theatre (now Singapore Ballet), Universal Ballet Company in Seoul, South Korea, Cincinnati Ballet, Kansas City Ballet and Ballet Tucson.

Mr. Fu was invited to perform at the Gala of Benois de La Danse Competition at The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia in 2003. In 2005, he was awarded 1st Prize at the 10th Asian Pacific International Ballet Competition in Tokyo, Japan. Some of his classical repertoire includes leading roles in full length ballets such as Siegfried in Swan Lake, Prince Desire in The Sleeping Beauty, Albrecht in Giselle, Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, James in La Sylphide, Dracula in Dracula, Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, Escamillo in Carmen, Lucien in Paquita, Jean de Brienne in Raymonda, Snow King and Cavalier in The Nutcracker. As well as principals in George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Theme and Variations, Diamonds, Serenade, Allegro Brillante and Walpurgisnacht Ballet.

He has also been featured in works by some of the most sought after contemporary choreographers including Stamping Ground, Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Forgotten Land and Petite Mort by Jiří Kylián, In the Upper Room by Twyla Tharp, In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated by William Forsythe, Tabula Rasa by Ohad
Naharin, Maninyas by Stanton Welch, The Man in Black by James Kudelka, Lambarena and Vivace by Val Caniparoli, Wunderland by Edwaard Liang, Klein Perspectives by Andrea Schermoly, Petal by Helen Pickett and In Creases by Justin Peck.

During his career, Mr. Fu taught at many ballet schools, summer intensives and master classes including Singapore Ballet Academy, Cincinnati Ballet Academy, Ballet Tech of Ohio, Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre, and Georgia Academy of Dance & the Performing Arts. He was most recently a Principal Dancer with Ballet Tucson and co-School Director of The School of Ballet Tucson along side his
wife, Danielle Fu, from 2022 - 2024. Under their leadership with SBT, the school won Best Dance Studio in Tucson Weekly’s “Best of Tucson” for 2023.

Mr. Fu is very excited to open Sonoran Ballet Academy with his wife Danielle, to continue inspiring the next generation of dancers.
